Antwerp: People on the move, focus on the role of culture and the arts in the integration process

On 25-26 April, a Culture for Cities and Regions meeting was held in Antwerp focusing on the city’s social inclusion projects through culture, with special attention paid to past and current stories of migration. The first day was dedicated to migration heritage. The venue was the Red Star Line Museum. The second day focused on how libraries can contribute to social innovation.

 Cultural heritage

Whilst cultural heritage has been defined as something inherited from the past, it is in many ways a contemporary and “living” cultural resource in Europe.
 Cultural and creative industries

The economic contribution of the cultural and creative sector (CCS) in the European Union in general and to regional development in particular is widely acknowledged.
 Culture for social inclusion

Culture-led development strategies have direct and indirect impacts on social inclusion, social innovation and intercultural dialogue.
