Social innovation in Rotterdam: One-stop-shop for youth at risk of exclusion

Jongerenloket (Youth Desk) is a hub of free services in Rotterdam where vulnerable people under the age of 27 can seek assistance for education, work or care. The one-stop-shop enables young people to access all of the city’s youth-related social services at one central location, hence making it easier for young people to receive the help they need.

Ensuring investments in social housing for all

In response to a parliamentary question from MEP Agnes Jongerius (S&D, NL) regarding the revision of state aid rules for services of general economic interest (‘SGEI’), Commissioner Margrethe Vestager affirmed that state aid can only be granted if social housing responds to "a public need: the provision of accommodation to disadvantaged citizens or socially less advantaged groups who due to solvency constraints are unable to obtain housing at market conditions".
